Biography

Professor Johnny Sung is a renowned expert in skills research, focusing on three key areas:
(i) National workforce development systems, with an emphasis on lifelong learning, skills development, policy tools, and the future of work;
(ii) Skills utilisation and measurement (e.g., competencies, qualifications, etc.); and
(iii) Measures and evaluations of 'high-performance working,' which connects business strategies with work systems, productivity, skills impact, innovation, technology, and job quality (‘better jobs’).

Professor Sung possesses extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating applied skills policies. He also publishes research papers regularly in academic journals.

He currently serves as a thematic expert supporting DG EMPL's Individual Learning Account Mutual Learning Programme.

Additionally, he is an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Skills, Knowledge, and Organisational Performance at the University of Oxford and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Adult Learning in Singapore.
