Biography
Matthias Weitzel works at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Seville. He leads a team of researchers investigating the socio-economic impacts of climate and energy policies. He holds a doctorate from the University of Kiel and worked at Kiel Institute for the World Economy and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) prior to joining the JRC in 2017. For more than a decade, he has analysed economic consequences of climate impacts and of policies to mitigation greenhouse gas emissions.
