Fair labour mobility

4 March 2026 (15:00-16:30)

Description

As underlined in the mission letter to Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu, further action is needed to facilitate labour mobility, while ensuring that rules are properly enforced. This need has been identified also by the Letta and Draghi reports.

The session will discuss the current challenges and opportunities in labour mobility and free movement of people, including social security coordination and recognition of skills and qualifications, in view of the presentation of the Fair Labour Mobility Package by the Commission in 2026. The package aims at further modernisation, digitalisation and simplification of the rules, including by introducing a European Social Security Pass, strengthening the European Labour Authority and advancing on skills portability.

The session will illustrate the challenges but also opportunities in cross-border EU labour mobility through the showcase of the journey of people moving abroad for work, concrete examples and real-life testimonies from advisors for mobile workers, companies and public authorities (e.g. labour inspectorates, public employment services). This will be followed by reactions from key actors at European level (ELA, social partners, European Commission).

Join us to help us shape the Fair Labour Mobility Package based on the current and future needs of mobile workers, businesses and public authorities!
