Biography

Simon Lewerenz, MSc, is a researcher and PhD candidate specialising in digital health interoperability, workforce skills, and governance in the context of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). He holds Master degree in Management from Católica Lisbon and ESCP Europe, complemented by advanced postgraduate training in digital transformation in healthcare across Portugal, Finland and Greece. His doctoral research in Information Science at ISCTE, Lisbon, focuses on interoperability, governance and policy implementation at European level.

Simon is actively involved in several EU-funded initiatives supporting capacity-building and policy alignment for the implementation of the European Electronic Health Records Exchange Format (EEHRxF), including the Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA), a Blueprint project under the Pact for Skills. His work contributes directly to European debates on employment, skills, and social rights, examining how digital transformation and data governance reshape professional roles in workforce readiness in health systems. Previously, he worked in global pharmaceutical governance and strategic consultancy across sectors and public–private initiatives.
