MoveS seminar in Poland: Digitalisation in the coordination of social security systems. Achievements and challenges for the future.

The MoveS Polish 2026 Seminar was dedicated to the digitalisation of the coordination of social security systems within the European Union, focusing on both its achievements to date and the challenges that lie ahead.

The morning session featured contributions from leading experts and decision-makers, including representatives of national and European administrations. The discussions addressed recent developments in the field of social security coordination and explore digitalisation as a policy instrument for strengthening the protection of economically mobile workers within the EU. Particular attention has been given to electronic data exchange mechanisms and the EESSI system, as well as to the experiences of key Polish institutions—namely the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and the National Health Fund (NFZ)—in advancing automation and the digitisation of administrative processes.

The afternoon session took the form of a panel discussion bringing together representatives of public authorities, social partners, and the expert and academic communities. The debate did consider whether digitalisation constitutes a value in itself or, rather, serves as a means of enhancing institutional efficiency and improving the situation of companies and posted workers. Overall, the seminar provided a platform for structured dialogue among public institutions, experts, and stakeholders, fostering the exchange of experience and contributing to the further development of digitally enabled social security coordination across Europe.
