Description
The Inter-Agency Career Guidance Working Group (IAG CGWG), composed by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the European Commission, European Training Foundation (ETF), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and World Bank, will organise a Global Careers Month from 8 November to 13 December 2022.
During this period the international agencies will promote a series of global and regional level events, in partnership with national and regional associations operating in the area of career development as it relates to both young people and adults.
Career guidance is a transversal key element in any skills strategy and crucial for successful implementation of skills policy initiatives. The evidence proves that the investment in career guidance provides positive economic, educational and social returns to both individuals and society.
Guidance plays a key role in the recent ILA Council recommendation; other examples with a strong emphasis on guidance are the Youth Guarantee, Upskilling Pathways and the Validation recommendation.
