Measures to combat poverty: The Council Recommendation on adequate minimum income ensuring active inclusion, and the Council Recommendation on the European Child Guarantee
Addressing poverty is a core political priority of the Commission. Along her Mission Letter, the Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, is leading the work on the first-ever EU Anti-Poverty Strategy to help people access the essential protections and services and address the root causes of poverty, as well as on the strengthening of the European Child Guarantee through investments and reforms.
The main objective of this implementation dialogue is to bring together key stakeholders to examine how EU and national policies tackle poverty through minimum income schemes along the active inclusion approach and the European Child Guarantee.
The dialogue will take stock of progress towards existing policy objectives and identify barriers that hinder effective delivery. The focus will be on identifying challenges and opportunities to facilitate implementation, and enhance simplification of EU-relevant policies to combat poverty, while maintaining a high level of social protection and avoiding additional burdens for Member States, social partners and stakeholders, including civil society organisations. Participants are invited to highlight key challenges, share good practices, and propose concrete, practical opportunities for simplification and improvements in implementation at the EU, national, regional, and local levels.
The outcomes of the dialogue could also feed into the preparation of the forthcoming EU Anti-Poverty Strategy and the strengthened European Child Guarantee.
