The European Commission and social partners are making significant strides to improve the working conditions of hairdressers throughout the EU with a new milestone on 30 October 2025.

The European Commission has presented the Quality Jobs Roadmap, a strong commitment to improving job quality and creating high-quality and future-proof jobs in Europe.

In its judgment, the EU Court of Justice dismissed the request to annul in its entirety the Directive on adequate minimum wages. The Court confirmed the validity of the provisions of the directive relating to collective bargaing on wage-setting.

The Commission proposed stronger safeguards for workers exposed to hazardous substances. The measures are expected to prevent around 1,700 lung cancer cases and 19,000 other serious illnesses over the next 40 years.

Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu launched a broad and extensive consultation process with social partners on the Quality Jobs Roadmap, holding a first exchange with European social partners.

The main purpose of the new list is to improve the quality of the risk assessment of hazardous medicinal products (HMPs). It aims at further strengthening the safety of workers due to the exposure to HMPs.

The European Commission is drafting new non-binding good practice guidelines for the safe management of asbestos at work. In a series of workshops interested stakeholders can make their contribution to for new practical and comprehensible guidelines.
