Today is the deadline for EU Member States to incorporate the Directive on adequate minimum wages into national law. The Directive sets out rules that should ensure that workers earn adequate minimum wages, improving social fairness across the EU.

Today, the Commission has proposed to establish a single digital declaration portal for companies providing services and temporarily sending workers to another Member State, known as ‘posted workers'.

Today, the Commission proposed to support 632 workers in Belgium, who were dismissed by machinery and paper enterprises Purmo and Sappi, with €700,000 from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF).

The Annual Report of the Social Protection Committee shows employment expansion and indicates a slight reduction in the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2023, although the share of people reporting financial distress remains high.
