Social Situation Monitor (SSM)

Data-driven insights on labour market and social issues in the EU

The Social Situation Monitor (SSM) produces analytical research notes and organises research seminars on relevant labour market, skills and social topics for the EU.

By providing reliable data and clear insights, it supports evidence-informed policymaking and helps improve labour market, skills and social outcomes across Member States.

The SSM focuses on four main areas of research:

  • Labour market outcomes, including employment, unemployment, skills, quality of jobs and wages.

  • Social outcomes, including poverty, income and wealth inequality, health and well-being.

  • Impacts of labour market and social policies.

  • environment-protection

Labour market and social impacts of megatrends (e.g., green and digital transitions, AI, demographic change and geopolitical shifts).
