Social dialogue in the metal industry covers activities related to NACE (Rev.2) codes 24.4 and codes 25 to 30, which include the manufacture of:
- basic precious and other non-ferrous metals
- fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment
- computer, electronic and optical products
- electrical equipment
- machinery and equipment
- motor vehicles, trailers, semi-trailers and other transport equipment
The sectoral social dialogue committee has been created in 2010, replacing the informal working committee previously functioning since 2006.
The EU metal industries are responsible for more than 17 million direct, and 35 million indirect jobs, in the EU.
The metal sector makes up the largest industrial sector in Europe in terms of both jobs and of added value.
