EU nationals wanting to work in Switzerland can visit the Swiss website for more information on requirements to access regulated professions.
Swiss nationals benefit from the basic recognition rules laid out in Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications based on an international EU-Swiss agreement (Free Movement of Persons Agreement: FMOPA).
Similar procedures and the same systems of recognition (for example: automatic system of recognition, general recognition system and recognition system based on professional experience) apply to them with the following exceptions:
- the EU-Swiss agreement limits the freedom to provide services to 90 days per calendar year
- not all elements of Directive 2005/36/EC apply, for example, they cannot apply for a European Professional Card, participate in a Common Training Test or benefit from recognition based on a Common Training Framework
