Description
According to the 6th edition of the OECD Missing Entrepreneurs report published back in November 2021, about 12% of working immigrants in the European Union are self-employed.
In addition, update on entrepreneurs with an immigrant background reflects that between the years 2006 and 2020, the share of immigrants among the self-employed in the European Union has more than doubled, increasing the number of potential clients of the European microfinance institutions.
This online session will explore the ways on how microfinance organisations and EU Institutions could potentially enhance financial and economic inclusion of entrepreneurs with a migrant background, bolstering their self-employability and enhancing innovation, growth, and job creation.
Topics to be discussed:
- Best practices of microfinance for migrant entrepreneurship: what has worked and what can be improved?
- What are the tools available for social and inclusive entrepreneurship?
- EMN Policy on Migrant entrepreneurship: what has been accomplished and what are the promising directions of work to acknowledge?
Panellists:
- Lucie Cordier - Microcredit Advisor, Adie
- Olivia Van den Bogaert - Partnerships, fundraising and advocacy manager, microStart
- Guillem Arís - Director of Autoocupació and Ambassador of the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions & Cities
- Marie Vial - Advocacy Officer, EMN
