Description
Cooperatives have always played an important role within the Social and Solidarity Economy, especially in countries such as Italy, Belgium or Spain.
Recently, these organisations are assuming an increasingly important role within the social finance field: Workers buyouts, which occur when workers acquire ownership and control of a company by creating a cooperative, help avoid unemployment, can create new jobs, preserve wealth as well as acquired know-how.
The renewed interest in this form of employee ownership provides opportunities for social finance investors to provide equity and/or debt capital.
The workshop will feature prominent speakers from the field and will discuss new perspectives for social finance providers as well as limits, challenges and gaps in funding provision across different sectors and geographies.
Speakers
- Barbara Scheck, European Center for Social Finance
- Thierry Perrin, Director of financial instruments at CGSCOP / France
- Pedro Blazquez, COCETA / Spain
- Mauro Frangi, President of CFI / Italy
