This new PES Network video gives a voice to Public Employment Services (PES), employers, workers and a thematic expert on issues related to labour and skills shortages in Europe. It includes reflections on how PES and their partners can continue to better match supply and demand of labour in Europe’s evolving labour market.
Tina Weber, Research Manager at Eurofound, overviews issues on both the demand and supply side of the labour market - including mobility of labour, emerging skills requirements and training needs. She outlines the impact these issues have on the labour market, the additional upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and what can be done to better integrate people into this changing labour market.
The Luxembourg PES (ADEM) - together with representatives of their partners and clients – share their experiences of the growing skills gap they have seen in their country in recent years and the work they are doing both to better understand the evolving skills needs of employers and to provide workers with ‘future skills’.
The video takes us to hear from the Slovenian PES (ESS) about their efforts to identify and address the skills gaps and labour shortages they are seeing in sectors such as manufacturing, tourism and hospitality. We also hear the perspectives of an employer and worker about a PES-supported programme to provide on-the-job training to overcome skills gaps.
Watch the video to get a taster of the issues at stake and then register now by April 1 to join the conversation taking place at the PES Network Stakeholder Conference on Labour and Skills Shortages on 7-8 April 2022.
