Social dialogue in the gas industries covers activities related to NACE (Rev.2) code 35.2 which covers the manufacture and distribution of gaseous fuels through mains and trade.
The sectoral social dialogue committee has been created in 2007. In 2018, the EU gas industries employed some 120,000 workers (Eurofound Representativeness study, 2022).
The sector faces the following main challenge:
- green transition and decarbonisation, especially in terms of anticipation and management of change, and of skills needed
- digitalisation and its opportunities for the sector
- vulnerability to global energy prices.
